The Energy Materials Group houses three MBraun Gloveboxes, a VMP-3 multi-channel electrochemical workstation with two EIS channels, one BT2000 battery cycler (28 channels), about 100 channels of Landt Battery Testers, one temperature-controlled chamber for battery testers, a Tristar II 3020, Surface Area Analyser, one Thermo Centrifuge (maximum rpm: 14,000), Two Fritsch ball mills: PULVERISETTE 7 and PULVERISETTE 5, vacuum sealer for battery pouch cells, ultrasonic metal welder, electrical doctor blade coater, electric hot rolling press, a low-temperature refrigerator, tube furnaces, quartz crystal microbalance, and Pine rotating disk motor.

Electron Microscopy Facility Shared at OSU

FEI Titan 80-300 TEM/STEM with a HAADF detector and energy dispersive X-ray spectra (EDX) equipped: STEM with EDX is used for nanoscale compositional studies.

FEI NOVA 230, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with EDX equipped

FEI QUANTA 3D dual beam SEM/FIB: this is a "dual beam" scanning electron microscope (SEM) that is also equipped with a focused ion beam (FIB).

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer at OSU

The OSU NMR Facility is a campus-wide core facility administered by the College of Science, which is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopy resources to the research and education community at Oregon State University and the greater northwest region. The facility is housed in the NMR suite on the first floor of the Linus Pauling Science Center. NMR spectrometers are available at 800 MHz, 700 MHz, 500 MHz, and 400 MHz (2), corresponding to magnetic field strengths ranging from 18.8 T to 9.4 T. Data processing and analysis software is available on workstations in the NMR Facility.

We have access to state-of-the-art characterization tools, including hard X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), high-energy X-ray total scattering, and high-resolution X-ray diffraction (XRD) at Advanced Photon Source (APS) of Argonne National Laboratory, the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, particularly Nanoscale Ordered Materials Diffractometer (NOMAD), and soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy at Lawrance Berkeley National Laboratory.
